CMA falls to Q Foundation after layoff, 34-6
Jake
JAKE HARPER ACCOUNTED FOR all of CMAs points with his third quarter punt return for a touchdown in Saturdays loss to the Q Foundation.
For a scant few moments, there was the opportunity for the Camden Military Academy to get back into Saturday’s game with visiting Q Foundation. But as quickly as the door was left open, the guests from Charlotte slammed it in the face of the Spartans which fell to 0-3 on the season with a 34-6 loss to the Fighting Falcons in a warm Saturday afternoon contest played at Spartan Field.Trailing, 20-0, at the break, the hosts got on the scoreboard thanks to Jake Harper’s 45-yard punt return for a touchdown. The guests, however, answered with a score of their own to put this game out of reach at 28-6.While CMA was unable to get any traction on offense, the Fighting Falcons did not have to travel far in order to put this game away.“We gave them the short field four times and they capitalized on that by scoring three times,” said CMA head coach Will Rice of Q Foundation’s not having to drive the length of the field for its scores. On one occasion, a blocked CMA punt set the guest up deep inside Spartan territory. The hosts needed to try and keep the Falcon quarterback in check and while he did not hurt CMA much with his legs, the air game was an entirely different story.“They threw the ball on us,” Rice said.
