Spartan harriers post solid finish in Skyhawk Invitational

A new-look Camden Military Academy cross country team finished in 13th place --- out of 19 squads --- which took part in the Skyhawk Invitational hosted by Hammond last Wednesday in Columbia.The Spartans, coached by John Heflin and with a little more than a week of training since the start of school, finished with 367 points. Trinity-Byrnes won the event with 56 points.The top finisher for CMA was Tyler Van Buitenen, who came in 33rd out of 255 runners in a time of 20:45.53. Simon Falk was 77th (22:13.21) with Nestor Ruiz 93rd (22:44.65) to round out the Spartans in the top 100.Other finishers for CMA were: Tripp Osteen (110, 23:10.85), Cody Augberger (136, 24:14.11), Tanner Allison (142, 24:20.57), David Edwards (164, 25:33.43), Alexey Kuimov (166, 25:34.93), Robbie Hart (188, 26:13.53), Mike Donovan (191, 26:21.94), Kevin Smith (193, 26:36.13), Chris Witthar (203, 27:01.20), Christian Trzanadel (27:47.28), Jamar Arrindell (27:49.52), Ross Hogan (216, 27:52.30), Trent Martin (225, 28:19.86) Patrick Carty (236, 29:49.15), Matt Phillips (240, 32:48.30) and Will Geriner (252, 34:37.32).The Spartans will return to the course on Thursday when they join North Central for a 5 p.m. tri-meet at Indian Land.
