LES CELESTE ETHERIDGE CORRALS this rebound in Fridays loss to Camden while the Lady Bulldogs Nikki Lee (30) looks on.
It had hardly been the most jovial of weeks for Camden girls’ basketball head coach Natalie Jeffcoat as the flu bug struck her and her three children. On top of that, the Lady Bulldogs lost their first game of the young season to Lakewood on Wednesday.Maybe, her team’s 81-26 win over rival Lugoff-Elgin on Friday night would be the on-court equivalent of a bowl of chicken soup.In sweeping their cross-river rival, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 3-1 on the season heading into Tuesday’s Region 4-AAA opener at A.C. Flora. On the other side of the Michael G. Culp Court, the Lady Demons (1-5) saw their chance to string together a second straight victory go by the boards as they were looking up at a 40-10 halftime deficit after being outscored, 24-2, in the second quarter of play. For Jeffcoat, the mission going into Friday’s game was two-pronged.
