JUNIOR GUARD DREE DUBOSE helped the Camden girls to a third-place finish in the Apple Classic at Walhalla High School this week. The Lady Bulldogs finished the 2011 portion of their slate with a 4-2 record.
After a long trip to Walhalla for the two-day Apple Classic tournament, the Camden High girls’ basketball team was rudely greeted and treated by the hostesses as they handed the Lady Bulldogs a 59-45 loss in the second game of Tuesday’s night’s opening doubleheader.The setback snapped a three-game CHS win streak while Walhalla improved to 8-1 on the season, while advancing into Wednesday’s championship contest against Rathbun (Ga.)The host Razorbacks jumped out to an 18-12 first quarter lead which stood at 27-22 at halftime. Walhalla (8-1) used a 19-point third quarter to increase its lead to 46-34 heading into the final quarter of play.Sophomore Quasha Jefferson led the way for Natalie Jeffcoat’s troops with 12 points. Junior guards Jazzmine Devlin and Dree Dubose each contributed nine points in the setback.With the loss, Camden fell into the consolation bracket.
