Former Lugoff-Elgin High School and Kershaw County Post 17 pitching standout Zack Bowers was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played the week of Feb. 22-28.

Bowers, a sophomore right-hander, turned in a dominating performance on the mound to help Erskine sweep Limestone. He threw his first career complete game shutout, striking out a career-high 12 Saints along the way with no walks. Bowers scattered seven hits over nine innings, allowing just one extra base hit and just three runners to reach second base in the victory.

Through six appearances, including five starts this season, the six-foot, 215-pound Bowers has fashioned a 3-1 record. He has thrown 27 innings and has struck out 26 batters while pitching to a team-best 1.67 earned run average for the Flying Fleet.
