The other made a name for himself at last weekend’s South Carolina High School League individual state wrestling championship.Lugoff-Elgin senior Zach Connell joined his three older brothers as state titlists as he rolled to the 4A crown in the 182-pound division. Daniel Witmore, a junior at North Central, breezed to his first state title by running roughshod over the 195-pound class in the A-AA ranks.The pair made the most noise of the seven wrestlers from the three Kershaw County high schools which took part in the two-day event, which opened last Friday night at the Anderson Civic Center.Connell, whose brothers Ben, Campbell and Will combined for seven of the school’s 47 state titlists before Saturday, became a first-time state winner on Saturday when he shut out Lower State champion Jake Beckett of Hillcrest, 7-0, in the finals.
