After having either won or tied for their respective conference championships, all three Kershaw County volleyball programs reaped the spoils of another winning season on the court by having their players being voted as the most valuable player in each league by the coaches from each circuit. Camden senior Whitley Kahler was tabbed as the Region 4-AAA player of the year while Lugoff-Elgin junior Sarah Turner was tabbed as the top player from Region 6-4A with North Central eighth-grader Alayna Johnson being accorded the honor from the seven coaches in Region 4-AA. Kahler, an outside hitter/defensive specialist, helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to an 8-0 conference record and into the third round of the AAA state playoffs. In addition to her player of the year award, Kahler was named to the South Carolina Coaches Association of Women’s Sports (SCCAWS) AAA All-State squad as well as to the South Carolina North-South All-Star Volleyball Weekend matches at Erskine College in Due West on Nov. 17-18.
