Setting the stage for what would be a nail-biting doubleheader, Camden held off host Lugoff-Elgin and came away with a 44-43 win in a girls’ basketball game played Friday night inside the Demons Den. The two cross-river rivals played two highly contested and spirited games in front of a large early season crowd which added to the atmosphere. In the opener, the visiting Lady Bulldogs held off the late-surging Lady Demons by using a mix of ball control and free throw leading L-E head coach Von Duncan to nearly losing her voice in coaching this one.
