Crunch time has arrived for county hoop squads

Dreher outscored visiting Camden by a 14-6 count in overtime to come away with a 67-59 victory over the visiting Bulldogs in a Region 4-AAA basketball game played on Tuesday night in Columbia.The win gave the Blue Devils a split of the season series with Camden, which fell to 2-6 in league play with two games left on the schedule. Dreher (4-4) locked down a state playoff berth with the victory.Dreher led, 25-22, at halftime in a game which was knotted at 53 at the end of regulation.Junior center Delton Bradford returned to the lineup for the Dogs and led the guests with 16 points. Senior guard Josh Council was next with 15 while junior guard Josh Sumpter added 13.Blue Devils’ sophomore Tevin Mack led all scorers on the night with 26 points.As for the Region 4-AAA standings through eight of 10 games, Lower Richland leads the way with an 8-0 mark followed by A.C. Flora (6-2) and Dreher (4-4).
