For many wrestling teams in the southeast, the Southern Slam has been used as a barometer as to what areas wrestlers need to fine tune as they head into the meat of their seasons. Last weekend, Lugoff-Elgin placed ninth from the 44 teams who traveled to Eastside High school to compete in the prestigious event. Buford County (Ga.) won the two-day tourney with 126 points.
