In what was a tune-up for the start of what is expected to be a tough slate of Region 4-4A contests, the Lugoff-Elgin wrestling team improved to 12-5 in dual matches with wins over visiting Cardinal Newman, 72-6, and Chester, 62-12, last Wednesday. Against a young Cardinal Newman squad, first-year L-E head coach Ted Monroe was able to give several of his younger wrestlers much-needed varsity match experience against the Cardinals. The Demons received victories from Matthew Corder at 106 pounds, Caleb McDonald (120), Donneal Johnson (126), Lorenzo McGee (132), Jacob Power (138), Taylor Catoe (145), Noah North (152), Evan McDonald (160), John Meldrum (170), Cameron Payne (182), Nick Payne (195), Seth Ham (220) and heavyweight Hunter Peake.
