It did not take Ty Cobb long to make an impact on the varsity basketball program at Lugoff-Elgin. Cobb, a 6-foot-5 freshman who was moved up to the varsity team just three games earlier, banked home a 10-foot jumper from just outside the paint area with 2.2 seconds left in overtime to give the Demons a 65-63 win over host Hartsville at the Hartsville Arena in a Region 6-4A game played Friday night. The game-winning basket was set up by a pass to Cobb from senior guard Kevon Roberson.
