Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, Lugoff-Elgin not only refrained from doing that but, rode that pony into the championship round of the 4A District VI baseball tournament. Having been held to one hit --- a bunt single --- through five frames, the hosts Demons parlayed three sixth inning hits into two runs which proved to be the difference in a 5-3 win over visiting Beaufort in Thursday’s winners’ bracket game of the 4A District VI tournament. L-E hosted Beaufort, an 11-8 winner over Myrtle Beach on Saturday, in Monday’s championship round with Monday’s winner advance into the 4A Lower State tournament which opens Thursday.
