At a time of year in which patience is in short supply --- whether on the part of shoppers waiting in store lines or, children counting the days, hours and minutes until Christmas Day, --- Lugoff-Elgin showed plenty of fortitude of its own in facing the deliberate offensive attack posed by Laurence Manning Academy in Wednesday’s boys’ championship of the Mid-Carolina Credit Union Holiday Classic. LMA, which upended Camden one night earlier, 58-47, worked the ball around the perimeter for the best shot while sinking into a 1-2-2 zone scheme in trying to slow the pace of play. Both strategies worked, for awhile, against the Demons.
