Dogfest on tap for Saturday

DogFest: A Celebration of Being a Camden Bulldog will be held on Saturday, April 9 at Camden High’s American Legion Field. 

The annual event is planned to offer fun for all ages. The day will feature baseball and softball games between Camden and rival Lugoff-Elgin High School. 

On the baseball diamond, the CHS and L-E junior varsity teams will play at 11 a.m. followed by the varsity contest at 1:30 p.m. The B team game is slated for a 3:30 p.m. start.

At the adjoining softball field, the Lady Bulldogs will host the Lady Demons in a 10:30 a.m. varsity game followed by the jayvee contest at 12:30 p.m.

To kick off DogFest, the Camden High JROTC Color Guard will present the colors while Buster, the Bulldog mascot will entertain the fans throughout the day. 

An inflatable jump house and an inflatable slide, courtesy of Kershaw Baptist Association, will be available from noon until 4 p.m. 

A highlight of DogFest will be a “Diamond in the Rough” contest for all ages will be played after the varsity baseball game. There is no cost to participate in “Diamond in the Rough.” Eggs will be scattered around the infield. The participant who finds the “diamond” egg receives a $50 gift certificate. 

The Kershaw Fine Arts Dancers will perform between the junior varsity and varsity baseball games. 

Admission to DogFest is $5. Concessions will be sold by Camden High baseball’s Bulldog Café, BBQ plates and sandwiches by Ronnie’s Ribs with shaved ice drinks by Kona Ice.
