Dogs split at Chapin; Rocks sweep NC

The Camden High boys basketball team snapped a two-game skid with a 49-35 win over host Chapin last Friday night.The victory gave the Bulldogs a 2-3 record in Region 4-AAA play heading into Tuesday’s road contest against Lower Richland..Chapin takes down Lady Bulldogs: Sharneece Gary and Brooke Dixon combined for 33 points but it was not enough as the Camden girls fell to homestanding Chapin, 54-47, last Friday nightThe Lady Bulldogs slipped to 2-3 in region 4-AAA play and 7-7 overall with the loss.Gary, a senior guard, led all scorers with 20 points while Dixon, a junior guard, added 13 for Natalie Jeffcoat’s squad.Shamrocks trip up Knights: Eau Claire used a 35-25 second half scoring advantage to get past visiting North Central, 60-49, in a game played last Friday night inside the Rock Pit in Columbia.The loss gave the Knights a 1-2 record in Region 3-AA play while the Shamrocks improved to 2-1 in conference action.The hosts led, 15-13, after the first quarter and carried a 25-24 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Shamrocks outscored NC (7-6), 15-12 in the third quarter before closing with a 20-point final stanza to put this one away.Senior center Kawan Hough led the way for the Knights with a 19-point, 17-rebound night. Junior forward William Jenkins was next for Andy Johnson’s charges with 10 points and five rebounds.
