Drakeford, Knights reach for the stars

In his first season in the NFL, Tyronne Drakeford helped the San Francisco 49ers win Super Bowl XXIX. Now the retired cornerback hopes to bring some of that magic with him to his alma mater as North Central’s first-year head football coach. Drakeford, a 1989 NCHS alum, became the sixth head football coach in school history when he accepted the job following the resignation of Louis Clyburn last December. Clyburn patrolled the sidelines in Boonetown for eight years with his final squad fashioning a 3-7 record in an injury-riddled 2016 campaign.
