Sold at Saratoga by a pair of Camden residents, purchased by a Camden resident who then sent the newest member of his stable back home, Amberjack continues to flourish in his native New York.On Saturday, the Indygo Shiner colt came from off the pace to win the $125,000 Mike Lee Stakes for New York-bred 3-year-olds at Belmont Park. The race was the first leg of the Big Apple Triple.The win was the second in as many 2013 starts for the Peachtree Stable (owned by Camden’s John Fort) runner which paid $26.80, $10.20 and $6.20 while beating 7-5 favorite Weekend Hideaway to the wire by 1 ¾ lengths in the 7-furlong run over the Big Sandy’s dirt course. The winning time was 1:21.64.Amberjack was sold at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton New York-breds sale at Saratoga in 2011 by Camden’s Dr. Randy Brandon and Kirsti May.
