It was as good of a start as you could have to the annual summer race meeting at the Saratoga Race Course. Shortly after the doors to the track swung open for the first race of the meet last Friday, Boat, a 5-year-old gelding prepared in Camden at Donna Freyer’s Custom Care Equine was the first horse to be led into the winner’s circle this summer after having won the $47,000 allowance race. Trained by Thomas Bush, who had Javier Castellano in the irons, Boat broke seventh from the gate in the field of 10 before moving into third at the top of the stretch.
