CCE grad Con Gee wins for Furlong; Pomology extends win streak to three

Here are some of the highlights from horses which were given their start at various barns in and around Camden and which have found success on the race courses both in this country and abroad.Con Gee scores at the Spa for CCE and Furlong: Con Gee, developed at Donna Freyer’s Custom Care Equine and trained by Camden-based trainer Kenyon Furlong, broke her maiden at third asking with a win in a $70,000 maiden race at Saratoga on Thursday, Aug. 8.The 3-year-old Congaree filly was never worse than second in the 5 ½-furlong race which was run in 1:04.87. Joe Rocco Jr. was aboard for the winning ride.Con Gee’s bankroll now stands at $53,780.Also last Thursday, CCE graduate Pitch N Roll won for the fifth time in 12 career starts with a score in a $38,000 race at Presque Isle Downs for The Elkstone Group LLC.Trained by Ron Potts, who gave Huber Villa-Gomez a leg up, the 3-year-old gelded grandson of Dynaformer made the six-furlong trip in 1:09. The win was the third in five 2013 starts for Pitch N Roll which has $242,435 in career earnings.CCE products had a strong end to July with Funny Lady, a 3-year-old Sharp Humor filly, breaking her maiden on her fourth try with a win in a $38,000, six-furlong race at Delaware Park on July 29 for trainer Michael Trombetta.
