THE CAROLINA CUP turns 80 this year with the race day set for Saturday, March 31.
It is not too early to begin making plans for the 2012 Carolina Cup Steeplechase Races at the Springdale Race Course.The race date for the 80th running of the Camden spring classic is set for Saturday, March 31.Carolina Cup officials sent out invitations to all those on their mailing list on Wednesday.All patrons who purchased reserved parking spaces and/or grandstand boxes last year will have right of first refusal to purchase their same space(s) for this year’s races. In order to secure their former space, their payment must be received by Friday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. If payment is not received that time, the space may be sold.Once again this year, those purchasing $30 general admission tickets by Saturday, March 17 will get a $15 discount from the $45 price which will be charged after that date as well as at the gates the day of the races.The gates to the Springdale Race Course will open to the general public at 9 a.m. with the first of six and/or seven races set to take to the course at 1:30 p.m. The day’s feature is the $50,000 Carolina First Carolina Cup (Grade II) Steeplechase.Here are the ticket and reserved parking options for the Carolina Cup races: General Admission Tickets: $30, prior to Saturday, March 17. All tickets purchased after that time and date and at the gate the day of the races will be $45.(Children under the age of 12 will be admitted free with an adult ticket-holder.)Infield: $215 per parking space.
