On a day which opened with the rain showers and ended in brilliant sunshine, two things which stood out among Saturday’s Carolina Cup were the constant wind, which played havoc with the infield and College Park tents, and safe racing. On the race course, the 81st edition of the Camden spring classic saw all 46 horses --- which competed in six races --- each return safe and sound and without a fall. As for the wind, reportedly, several injuries were attributed to tent poles striking race day patrons while more than a handful of infield race-goers packed up their pop-up tents to save them for another day rather than risk having them destroyed due to the constant and whipping winds.
