Derby weekend had a local flavor

There were Camden-related fingerprints all over the most prized hardware possessions at Churchill Downs last weekend. Plum Pretty, owned by Peachtree Stables and headed by Peachtree president and Camden resident John Fort, won last Friday’s 137th running of the $1 million Kentucky Oaks for 3-year-old fillies. The daughter of Medaglia d’Oro-Liszy by A.P. Indy, was developed in Camden at Kip Elser’s Kirkwood Stables.
