Flash Mash, a graduate of Kip Elser’s Kirkwood Stables in Camden, tracked down Well Deserved in deep stretch to win Saturday’s 16th running of the $100,000 Giant’s Causeway Stakes at the Keeneland Race Course in Versailles, Ky.The 5 ½-furlong race was run over the turf course.Brian Hernandez Jr. rated Flash Mash in third place as favorite Inspired showed the way at the ¼- and 3/8-mile marks with Well Deserved never worse than 1½-lengths behind. As the field hit the stretch and were three wide, Flash Mash went four wide and reeled in Well Deserved, who took the lead from a fading Inspired and went on to a 1 ½-length win. The final time was 1:03.19.Hernandez credited Flash Mash and trainer Michael Stidham for doing all the work.
