Kirkwood, CCE grads pile up the wins

Horses prepared at Kip Elser’s Kirkwood Stables in Camden have been wearing out a path to the winners’ circle in the month of February.On Monday, at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans, the Kirkwood-developed Cat Lore won for the third time in 11 career starts as the 4-year-old granddaughter of Spectacular Bid won a $49,000 allowance race in the Crescent City for trainer Michael Stidham.Ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan, the filly was never worse than third in the field of seven. She took the lead in the stretch and went on for a two-length win. The winning time for the 5 ½-furlong run over the turf course was 1:05.38.The $25,800 payday raised Cat Lore’s career earnings to $136,062 from 11 starts in which she has hit the board on nine occasions.Last week, a pair of Kirkwood grads and West Point Thoroughbred-owned runners came through with wins.
