It was a good week for maidens who got their starts at Kip Elser’s Kirkwood Stables in Camden.A trio of Kirkwood grads broke their maidens in the span of a week with wins in South Florida, New York and Japan.Unavenged, a 3-year-old filly, rolled to a 1 ¼-length victory over the boys in a field of 16 runners on Monday in a maiden race in Nakayama, Japan. The 11,400,000 Yen purse equates to more than $140,000 in U.S. dollar.The first-time starter was the second-choice of the bettors and was ridden by Yuichi Fukunaga for trainer Kazuo Fujusawa. The winning time for the 2,000-meter run (1.243 miles) over the turf course was 2:08.9The New York-bred is the daughter of graded stakes winner Empire Maker out of Naughty Natisha.
