In the 11 years since becoming a staple of Camden’s spring equine scene, the Camden Cup Polo Match has attracted a loyal following while introducing the “Sport of Kings” to thousands of new, and now, loyal fans to the sport which received its start in Camden more than a century ago.The 12th edition of The Camden Cup is set for Sunday, May 6, at 1:30 p.m. at the Camden Polo Field, located in the Dusty Bend (Hwy. 521 North) section of Camden.The event is a spring benefit for the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC). The afternoon will include a high-energy polo match as well as an array of activities for spectators of all ages. The gates to the facility will open to the public at 11 a.m.The popular best tailgate and best hat competitions will return and will take place during the match.Proceeds from this event, which pits two regional teams, will benefit programming of the Fine Arts Center which produces the annual May revival of polo in Camden.The match itself will be played on the country’s third-oldest polo field.
