Salute to the Military
Cup mural
In what has become a Colonial Cup tradition, a Military Appreciation mural sponsored by McDonalds of Camden owner and Camden resident George Sensor has been on display in the infield and signed by race-goers at the fall steeplechase races which included a Salute to the Military. The banner was handed over to Brig. Gen. R. Van McCarty last Friday in a ceremony held inside the National Steeplechase Museum in Camden. The event included members of the Carolina Cup Racing Association, Camden and Kershaw County officials, members of the American Legion in Kershaw County along with honored guests from the state and local members of the National Guard. During the course of the ceremony, Brig. Gen. McCarty presented a proclamation to Sensor and McDonalds for their unwavering support of American troops. The appreciation banner mural will be displayed at the USO at the McCrady Training Center for all deploying military members to see the kindness demonstrated by the Carolina Cup Racing Association along with the Camden, Kershaw County and Palmetto State communities.
