Sandbar, a 2-year-old War Pass filly developed at Fred and Wilhelmina McEwan’s Fenwick Farm in Camden, broke her maiden at first asking with a win in a $45,000 maiden race at Churchill Downs on June 8.Sandbar was placed to first after a steward’s inquiry as Runkle was disqualified after having bumped both Sandbar and Big Gator inside the final furlong of the four and one-half furlong race.Neil Howard, who formerly trained at the Camden Training Center, saddles Sandbar for W.S. Farish and Gasparilla Stable. Shaun Bridgmohan was in the irons for the winning ride in Louisville.CCE grad breaks maiden at Presque Isle Downs: Hop the Six, a graduate of Donna Freyer’s Custom Care in Camden, broker her maiden in her second outing with a 7 ¼-length romp in a $35,000 maiden race at Presque Isle Downs on June 10.The Elkstone Group LLC-owned 2-year-old Artie Schiller filly wired the field of seven for trainer Ron Potts. Huber Villa-Gomez was aboard for the winning ride in the five-furlong run on the all-weather track.
