Teter named as region rep for NSA

Camden’s Jeff Teter, Executive Director of the Carolina Cup Racing Association, will represent the South District as part of the National Steeplechase Association’s Race Chairmen’s Committee.Teter’s 231 wins as a steeplechase jockey --- which is good for sixth on the NSA career list --- are the most by any rider not enshrined in the National Racing Museum Hall of Fame. Over his career, the Pennsylvania native rode jumpers who brought in more than $2.8 million in earnings. Teter was elected to the post at the NSA’s Board of Directors and the Race Chairmen’s Committee meeting held on Jan. 25 in Herndon, Va.Sarah Jeffords, a New York attorney whose family bred and owned Racing Hall of Fame member Lonesome Glory, has been elected chairman of the National Steeplechase Association.Vice-chairman of the National Steeplechase Foundation, Jeffords succeeded Beverly R. Steinman, a longtime owner and NSA leader who is the chairman of the Carolina Cup Racing Association.
