There's snow training at Springdale

THANKS TO LAST WEEKS snow storm and cold weather, the 5/8ths track at the Springdale Race Course more closely resembled a speed skating rink than a horse track. - photo by C-I photos from Tom Didato
Returning to his native Ireland prior to Christmas, Desmond Fogarty saw his homeland blanketed by snow, making traveling in the region a bit dicey. The 37-year-old Thoroughbred trainer must be feeling as if the white stuff falling from the sky is following him as, after on his second night bringing his string of steeplechasers to Camden, the region had nearly half a foot of snow dumped on it last week. Fogarty, who has set up his winter quarters on the grounds of the Springdale Race Course in Camden for the first time in his young training career, was hardly alone in being forced to alter his original plan of attack due to the weather.
