High school football players in Kershaw County returned to the practice field last Friday to begin preparation for the 2017 season which opens up with Week Zero games for all three public school varsity programs on Friday, Aug. 18. All four county programs have their dates set up for the fall season which, again, will kick off for Camden, Lugoff-Elgin and North Central with the 42nd annual Camden Shrine Club Football Jamboree at historic Zemp Stadium in Camden on Friday, Aug. 11. All three county public schools will open their season one week later on Friday, Aug. 18 when Lugoff-Elgin makes the short trip across the Howard Speaks Memorial Bridge to to renew its cross-river rivalry against host Camden at Zemp Stadium.
