Francis Marion University sophomore guard and former Camden High School standout Evrik Gary was been named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 9-15.Gary, a 6-foot-3 Camden native, averaged 24 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.5 steals in two games that week. He tallied 16 points and eight rebounds in an 11-point home win over 20th-ranked University of Montevallo and then registered a career-high 32 points with six rebounds in a conference road win at Flagler College.For the two games played that week, Gary shot 46.4 percent from the field, including 7-of-12 from three-point territory, and was 15-of-19 at the foul line. He tied a school record by canning all five of his three-point attempts in the win over Flagler.Gary, a member of Camden High School’s 25-2, 2008-09 AAA state championship squad, currently ranks seventh in the Peach Belt in scoring at 17.3 points per game, is second in free throw percentage at 87.6 percent, and lists 10th in three-point percentage shooting at 40.9 percent.
