Bishopville native and current Camden resident Tommy Gainey came from seven strokes back in Sunday’s final round of the McGladrey Classic on St. Simons Island, Ga., to shoot a final round 60 and win for the first time on the PGA Tour. The final round 60 broke the Sea Island course as Gainey came a few feet short of sinking a putt for a 59 as he fired a 16-under 264 for the four days. The win was worth $720,000 while earning Gainey a spot in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawaii, and the 2013 PGA Championship while gaining an exemption through the 2014 season. The win also helps him increase the chance of finishing inside the top 30 on the money list, worthy of an invite to the 2013 Masters.Jim Furyk opened Sunday’s final round with a seven-stroke lead over Gainey, who waited some two hours as Furyk, Toms and Davis Love III completed their rounds.
