Shimp redeems himself to take CGA junior boys title at CCC
HENRY SHIMP HOLDS the CGA Junior Boys Championship cup after his win in Camden last Thursday.
After 54 holes of challenging golf at Camden Country Club last Thursday, there was still no definitive winner of the 65th Carolinas Junior Boys’ Championship. Round two leader, Henry Shimp of Charlotte, shot a third round 75 tying him with Andrew Wilmoth of Raleigh, N.C., thus leaving championship to be decided in a playoff. Shimp, who bogeyed the 18th hole in regulation, had the mental toughness to go back his “least favorite tee shot on the course,” and find the fairway.
