Jamboree is a total wash out

Due to Friday’s rains and the threat or even more inclement weather on Saturday, the 38th annual Camden Shrine Club Football Jamboree was cancelled.The event will not be made up.The cancellation means that both Camden and North Central will got into Friday’s week zero openers off of two scrimmages.Camden kicks off its 2013 season at home on Friday night, hosting Cheraw in a 7:30 p.m. start at Zemp Stadium in Camden. North Central hits the road on Friday, traveling to Columbia to meet Cardinal Newman in a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.The third county team whose mini game was rained out, Lugoff-Elgin, will open its season on Friday, Aug. 30, when Fort Mill comes to Lugoff-Elgin Stadium. Before that, however, Scott Jones’ troops will host their own jamboree come Friday, Aug. 23.Here are the details: M-CCU Kickoff Classic: The eighth annual Mid-Carolina Credit Union Kickoff Classic is set for Friday, Aug. 23 Lugoff-Elgin Stadium.This year, there will be three mini-games, all of which will be one half of play, being played.
