Jamborees usher in football season

How will your favorite Kershaw County football team look on opening night?Fans can get a sneak peek into the 2013 season when Camden, Lugoff-Elgin and North Central all stay at home for a two consecutive Friday nights of jamborees in Kershaw County, beginning with the Camden Shrine Club Jamboree on Friday, Aug. 16 followed by the Mid-Carolina Credit Union Kickoff Classic set for Lugoff-Elgin Stadium.Here is the information on each event: Camden Shrine Club Jamboree: A late-summer tradition, the 38th annual Camden Shrine Club Football Jamboree to be played at Zemp Stadium in Camden on Friday, Aug. 16.Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.The event benefits the many charitable endeavors of the Camden Shrine Club and is the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year.The six-school, three mini-games will open with Buford taking on North Central. Buford is looking to return to the AA state playoffs after having missed making the post-season for the first time in four years in 2012. The Knights, on the other hand, enter the fifth season under head coach Louis Clyburn and are coming off their winningest season since 2006.
