Jefferson's double-double leads CHS girls to victory

Quasha Jefferson posted a double-double in helping the Camden girls’ basketball team to a 58-39 win over McBee in a make-up game played Wednesday night in Chesterfield County.The victory, in the non-conference finale, gave Natalie Jeffcoat’s charges a 6-2 record heading into tonight’s Region 6-AAA opener against visiting Crestwood.Jefferson, a sophomore forward, poured in a game- and career-high 17 points while pulling down a dozen rebounds for the winners.Camden jumped out to a 19-4 lead after one quarter and carried a 35-16 advantage into the locker room at intermission. The Lady Panthers cut the deficit to four, at 43-39, after three quarters before the Lady Bulldogs pitched a shutout over the game’s final eight minutes.In addition to Jefferson’s breakout performance, CHS junior point guard Jazzmine Devlin had 10 points to go along with seven assists and three steals. Senior center Chelsea Reynolds had a 15-point game with seven rebounds while sophomore guard Sharneece Gary buried a trio of 3-point shots to account for all nine of her points.Junior guard Dree Dubose chipped in with another solid night across the board with four point, four steals and a pair of rebounds.Dogs cruise past Panthers: Led by a career-best 15 points from sophomore center Delton Bradford, the Camden boys breezed past McBee, 76-24, in Wednesday’s second game of the doubleheader.The victory was the third of the season and second in five nights for Camden over the host Panthers.
