It may not feel like football weather, but in a little more than a month, all three Kershaw County public school varsity football teams will report for the start of pre-season practice.This year, the regular season begins and ends a week later than a season ago with all three teams playing into November.Both Camden and North Central will kick off their respective campaigns with Week Zero games on Friday, Aug. 23. Camden will host Cheraw on that evening while the Knights head to Forest Drive in Columbia to take on Cardinal Newman.Lugoff-Elgin opens its season on Friday, Aug. 30 when Fort Mill comes into Lugoff-Elgin Stadium to begin an 11-game regular season slate for the 4A Demons.In games of local interest, the Lugoff-Elgin vs. Camden game will be played at Zemp Stadium in Camden on Friday, Sept. 20.
