KC squads begin post-season play

All six Kershaw County baseball and softball teams will begin state district tournament play which kicks off Thursday for 4A and AA while the AAA tourneys will start on Friday.Here are the pairings involving each of the local entries: BaseballCamden: The Bulldogs, the fourth-place finisher from Region 4-AAA, hit the road to meet Region 2 champion Greenville in Friday’s District 2 opener at 6 p.m. The bottom half of the bracket has Belton-Honea Path hosting Chester. Regardless of the outcome of its opening contest, Camden will be on the road for next Monday’s second round with the game set for 6:30 p.m. if at B-HP or, 7 p.m. if at Chester.Lugoff-Elgin: For the second straight year, the Demons, the fourth-place finisher from Region 4-4A, will travel to meet Region 5 champion Lexington in Thursday’s 4A District 5 opener at 7 p.m. Cane Bay, the Region 7 runner-up, and Ashley Ridge, the third-place finisher in Region 8, make up the other half of the bracket. Regardless of the outcome of its opening contest, L-E will be on the road for Saturday’s second round with a 2 p.m. game at Cane Bay or, if at Ashley Ridge.North Central: The Knights, the runner-up in Region 3-AA, will host Cheraw, which finished third in Region 4, in Thursday’s AA District 4 opening round game.
