KC teams head into Christmas tourney action

Now that Christmas Day is behind us, Kershaw County basketball and wrestling teams are heading into holiday break tournaments beginning today and running into the new year.

Here is a listing of which teams are playing in what tournaments before school restarts on Jan. 5.

 

 

Lady Bulldogs head to Lake Marion:

The Camden High School girls’ basketball team opens post-Christmas tournament play this afternoon when the Lady Bulldogs take on traditional state power Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 4 p.m. in the Lake Marion Invitational Tournament to be played at Lake Marion High School’s main gym.

The winner of the Lady Bulldogs vs. Lady Bruins game will meet the winner between Bethune-Bowman vs. Orangeburg Prep on Saturday at 4 p.m. The losers of the opening round contests will play against each other Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

The eight-team girls’ portion of the tournament concludes on Monday. The boys’ side of the tournament is a 16-team affair.

 

 

Lady Knights make short trip for tourney:

The North Central girls will be in tournament action beginning Saturday in the four-team Comporium Classic hosted by Andrew Jackson High School.

The Lady Knights will take on rival Andrew Jackson in a 3 p.m. start. The event will conclude on Monday, Dec. 29 in Kershaw

 

 

Camden wrestlers take to the mat on Saturday:

The Camden High wrestling team will return to the mat on Saturday, Dec. 27 to take part in the one-day Eagle Duals tournament hosted by Airport High School.

The wrestling action begins at 9 a.m.

 

 

L-E heads to Boonetown for Carolina Classic:

North Central High School will host its annual Carolina Classic boys’ basketball tournament on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 29 and 30.

The Knights will be joined by in-county rival Lugoff-Elgin, Buford and Robert E. Lee Academy.

First round play begins on Dec. 29 when Lugoff-Elgin meets Buford in the 6 p.m. game. The 7:30 p.m. nightcap will have the tournament hosts facing Robert E. Lee Academy.

One night later, the losers of Monday’s games will play in the 6 p.m. third-place game while the championship contest is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.

 

 

Bulldogs get three games in as many days:

The Camden High boys’ basketball team will head to Chesterfield for the three-day Farm Bureau Classic Tournament to be played on Dec. 29-31.

The pairings and brackets as they concern Camden have not been announced.

 

 

Lady Demons are Timmonsville-bound:

The Lugoff-Elgin girls’ basketball team will take part in the two-day, four-team Lady Winds Invitational to be played at Timmonsville High School on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 29 and 30.

The Lady Demons will meet tournament host Timmonsville on Monday, Dec. 29 at 7:30 p.m. The first game of the doubleheader will have Johnsonville meeting Central of Pageland.

The third-place game is set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30 with the championship game to follow.

 

 

L-E wrestlers open 2015 on the road:

The Lugoff-Elgin wrestling team will participate in the two-day Border Duals at South Pointe High School in Rock Hill on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 2 and 3.

 

 

NC grapplers travel to Newberry:

The North Central wrestling team will take to the highway to compete in the two-day Newberry Duals to be contested on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 2 and 3 and hosted by Newberry High School.
