KC trio knocked from state duals tourney

All three Kershaw County wrestling teams were knocked out of of the state playoffs on Saturday.Lugoff-Elgin maintained its streak of never having lost a first round match since the South Carolina High School League went to its dual match format as the Region 4-4A champions downed Mauldin in Saturday’s tourney opener hosted by L-E. The win Demons had the Demons meeting ninth-ranked Fort Mill in the afternoon’s second round and the Yellow Jackets, the Region 3 runner-up downed the hosts, 54-24, to advance to tonight’s third round at fourth-ranked Hillcrest.Camden, the fourth-place finisher in Region 4-AAA, traveled to meet Region 3 champion Union County and the Bulldogs saw their season come to an end in a 51-32 setback at the hands of the host Yellow Jackets, who lost to Belton-Honea Path in round two, 36-33.North Central, the Region 3-AA/A champion, traveled to the 16-team AA Upper State championship tournament in Powdersville. The sixth-seeded Knights downed Whitmire in round one before coming up short in its second round pairing with Cheraw.
