KC wrestlers bound for Carolina Invitational

Lugoff-Elgin Middle School qualified nine and Camden Middle School had a pair who punched their ticket into the 2014 Carolina Invitational wrestling tournament following this past Saturday’s qualifier held at White Knoll High School.The Carolina Invitational, the unofficial middle school and junior varsity state championship tournament, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Lexington High School.L-EMS, the defending Carolina Invitational champion, received wins from Seth Wages at 80 pounds as well as from Devin Wilson (92 pounds), Tanner Hall (92), Tyler Jackson (98), Elijah Dixon (104), Lorenzo McGee (110), Reddek Kelly (117), Gavin Ferguson (117) and Seth Branham (185).The Leopards had a trio of alternates in Jaden Robinson (98), Jonathan Baskins (98) and Jacob Carron (110).Camden Middle School’s qualifiers were Zach Phillips at 162 pounds and Khavon Brown at 210 pounds. The War Eagles’ alternates were Junior Santiago (104), Jamal Murphy (154) and Lorenzo Clyburn (170).Stover Middle School had a trio of alternates at White Knoll including Garrett Sloan (117), Terrance Clark (138) and Ahmad Bryant (154).In the Carolina Invitational junior varsity qualifier at White Knoll, Camden High School led the way for the county contingent with three qualifiers and an alternate. Winning their divisions for the Bulldogs were Marcus Bracey (113), Brice Nichols (132) and Donovan Engram (195).
