A strained right forearm landed Camden native Michael Kohn on the 15-day disabled list to open the 2012 Major League season for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
The former Camden High and Kershaw County Post 17 American Legion standout posted a 0.00 earned run average after having appeared in five spring training contests for the Halos in the pre-season. The injury occurred following his last appearance of the spring in a game played on March 17 in Arizona.
The 25-year-old reliever was able to resume throwing on Monday, April 2, according to information contained on the team’s official website.
Selected by the Angels in the 13th round of the 2008 MLB Draft, Kohn sped through the organization’s minor league system before being promoted to the parent club in July of 2010.
Last season, Kohn opened the year with the Angels. The right-hander spent the 2011 campaign with both the Angels and their AAA franchise in Salt Lake City.
The Angels opened their season on Friday when they hosted Kansas City in the first of a three-game homestand.
