After winning their first two games in the Farm Bureau Classic over Berea (in overtime) and host Chesterfield, the Lugoff-Elgin boys’ basketball team came up agonizingly short in their quest to return home with the tourney title.On Saturday night, the Demons were edged by Anson County (N.C.), 63-62, in the tournament finale.The defeat snapped a five-game winning streak for Derek Belton’s squad (8-5) which opens Region 4-4A action on the road with a trip to meet Spring Valley (9-5) on Friday night in Columbia.Conference campaigns kick off: With school back in session beginning Wednesday and the holiday tournaments behind them, it is time for Kershaw County’s basketball and wrestling teams to return to action this week.On Friday, Camden, Lugoff-Elgin and North Central return to the basketball hardwood to kick off their 10-game conference seasons.On Saturday, the Palmetto State Rizers’ American Basketball Association entry’s game with the Atlanta Aliens at E.
