When his team’s offense scored 14 points in the opening nine-plus minutes in last week’s game with Lakewood, Lugoff-Elgin head coach Matt Campbell was optimistically thinking that the Demons’ game-opening struggles were over. Little did he know that those would be the only points his team would score in edging the visiting Gators, 14-12, on Homecoming at L-E. “I’ll be honest,” Campbell said of his team’s finally getting off to a quick start, “I was kind of lit up about that. I thought, ‘OK. Here we go.’ Then, we fizzled out.”
