Kershaw County’s chance to have an unprecedented three of its volleyball teams all playing their way into the South Carolina High School League state championship was erased when both North Central and Lugoff-Elgin lost their matches on Monday and Tuesday nights, respectively. North Central fell to visiting St. Joseph’s in three sets in the AA Upper State finale while Lugoff-Elgin was taken down in three sets in Tuesday’s 4A Lower State championship match played at Myrtle Beach High School. St. Joseph’s, winners of the state class A title in each of the past five years, will play for its first class AA crown after having dealt North Central a 25-17, 25-13, 25-18 loss inside The Castle in Boonetown on Monday.
