Three nights after evening their Region 4-4A record at 1-1 with overtime win against Westwood, the Lugoff-Elgin boys’ basketball team lost to visiting Blythewood, 82-69, Friday night inside the Demons Den.

In falling to 1-2 in conference play, Garrett Knight’s troops received 14 points each from senior Daniel Quattlebaum, freshman Kevon Roberson and junior Aldreacio Wells 14. Sophomore Tyrese Elm and freshman Bradwin Salmond had nine and eight points, respectively.

Lady Demons fall:

Blythewood opened the twinbill with a 58-23 win over the Lugoff-Elgin girls.

Senior center Shairelle Gadson led Von Duncan’s charges with eight points while sophomore guard Alyssa Weems was next with seven.

Cheraw sweeps past North Central:

Cheraw, the third-ranked team in the latest AA state boys’ basketball poll, did nothing to hurt itself in the rankings as the host braves knocked off North Central, 109-46, on Friday.

Senior Jay Parks and sophomore Zach Jones led NC with nine points each while senior Will Jenkins was next with eight for Cary Phillips’ team.

In the opener, the Cheraw girls used a 27-8 second quarter spree to carry a 41-13 lead into halftime and would cruise to an 85-33 victory over the Lady Knights.
