In just their second year of existence, the Camden High girls’ golf team can sympathize with the growing pains which their cross-river neighbors are experiencing.
On Monday, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Lugoff-Elgin in a six-hole match played over the Camden Country Club course, 136-174.
The Lady Demons, under head coach Zoe Dommel, are playing their first season on the links.
The victory gave Matt McCarley’s Lady Bulldogs, which played in the AAA state tournament a year ago, a 5-3 overall record.
Kiana Jones led Camden with a 25 and was the medalist for the dual match. CHS teammates Cidney Childress and Sloane Neal each carded a 36 on the afternoon. Michaelah Wise was the low-scorer for the Lady Demons with a 36.
Blythe Neal and Grace Piccione had a 39 and a 43, respectively, for Camden, while Rebecca Hough, Alex Bouie and Isis Melvin all finished with 46s for the Lady Demons.
The Lady Demons return to the course on Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. road match with Sumter.
