A 1-1 tie after 80 minutes followed by two scoreless overtime sessions leading to penalty kicks to decide a winner. Had it not been for the pouring rain, it would have been everything you would have wanted to see in a match between neighboring rivals.Facing each other for the first of two times on the season, the Camden and Lugoff-Elgin girls’ soccer teams needed to go into penalty kicks before the visiting Lady Bulldogs were able to leave L-E Stadium with a 2-1 victory over the host Lady Demons.CHS sophomore sweeper Sarah Ann Semple gave the guests a 2-1 lead in penalty kicks before goalkeeper Jordan Woody brushed aside the fifth and final L-E shot to send the Lady Bulldogs home with the win.“We’ve practiced PK’s (penalty kicks) a lot in the pre-season,” said Camden head coach Stephen Sutusky, “and honestly, we haven’t been that successful with them until tonight. I guess that proves to our girls that practice does matter because we’ve worked and worked and worked to improve in a shootout situation.”
